HMS BEAGLE

Commissioned by the Australian National Maritime Museum for their Charles Darwin exhibition which was shown from the 20 March 2009 until the 23 August 2009. This 1:48th scale Brig was part of the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s ground breaking book ‘On the Origin of Species by Natural Selection’ and the bicentenary of his birth. This display model was feature as one of the main exhibits showing the Beagle in it's 1832 version used by Darwin on his famous trip around the world. This museum quality model took 4.5 Months to complete and is deemed one of the best examples of this type of ship model in the world by leading experts.

Did you know:
the Beagle was only 90.3 ft(27.5 m) long and with a Beam 24.5 ft (7.5 m), over 64 men lived aboard.........HOW ????????
